6 Steps to Sustainability – A Quick Guide

Sustainability is a Marathon: How to Prioritize Your Efforts

Starting with sustainability can be challenging, and it’s easy to become unsure of which initiatives are relevant. Many of our clients have told us that this uncertainty held them back from getting started in the past.

The 6 Steps

Valified makes it easy and efficient for your company to work on sustainability, ensuring long-term attractiveness to customers, talent, and capital. The platform guides you through the individual elements of sustainable management by providing simple tools for each phase. The approach and tools are based on OECD and UN Global Compact recommendations and principles.

  1. Get an Overview
By completing Valified’s ESG Baseline and conducting a CO2 assessment using our calculator, you gain a clear overview of your company’s starting point. Valified guides you through a simple questionnaire that covers all aspects of sustainability in your company. You can also perform a CO2 assessment with our calculator, which is based on the Danish Business Authority's Climate Compass.
  2. Where Can You Make a Difference?
The answers to the ESG Baseline questions and the results of the CO2 assessment can help you identify areas where you can make an impact. For example, you can focus on the areas of the questionnaire where you cannot yet answer "yes." You can also analyze the CO2 assessment results and target the areas with particularly high emissions.
  3. Set Goals and Identify Actions
By creating an action plan, you can set clear goals and choose specific initiatives. With Valified’s help, you can build a concrete action plan. Focus on the 2-3 most relevant goals for a targeted and effective transition. Valified offers two solutions for action plans:
    - Tailored Action Plan by Valified: Based on the sustainability information you provide, Valified generates an overview, offering a custom action plan to elevate your company’s sustainability efforts.
    - DIY Action Plan: You can also create your own action plan using Valified’s templates for sustainability and CO2 action plans, available in our Help Center.
  4. Engage Your Organization
Once your action plan is ready to be implemented, it’s time to develop a sustainability policy. This policy not only outlines principles and approaches but also signals professionalism to your customers, investors, and employees. Additionally, you may need to establish new workflows and requirements for suppliers. Valified’s Help Center offers a template called "Sustainability Policy" and examples you can easily adapt for your company.
  5. Share Your Approach and Plans
On the platform, you can create professional sustainability and climate reports, ready to communicate your sustainability efforts both internally and externally. This communication is crucial for motivating employees and attracting customers and capital, thus enhancing your competitiveness.
  6. Follow Up
To succeed with your action plans, ongoing follow-up is essential. Valified allows you to track your initiatives and progress, ensuring that your sustainability goals remain on course.
