Find help to gather data for Scope 1 and 2 in the CO2 Calculator here.
Scope 1 and 2 data can often be found via invoices or self-service logins with utility companies.
A CO2 calculation divides emissions into 3 areas or so-called Scopes:
- Scope 1 covers direct emissions, which for most companies are emissions from fuels.
- Scope 2 includes the company’s indirect emissions from energy consumption. This means emissions from the energy you purchase through your utility company—such as electricity, district heating, or cooling.
- Scope 3 encompasses all other indirect emissions that a company typically does not have control over. Therefore, they are both harder to map and reduce than scope 1 and 2. This could include emissions related to waste, business flights, and purchased goods for production.
Data for calculating Scope 1
Own and leased vehicles
Find figures for the fuel (petrol, diesel), hybrid, or electricity consumption of the company’s vehicles within the reporting year.
Process emissions
Note! This figure should only be found if your company has production.
Find figures for the company’s greenhouse gas emissions related to production within the reporting year.
Data for calculating Scope 2
Electricity
Find figures for the company’s electricity consumption within the reporting year (kWh or MWh).
Heating
Find figures for the amount of district heating consumed by the company within the reporting year.
Find figures for the amount of any fuel consumption within the company during the reporting year, such as heating oil, natural gas, natural gas (X% biogas), and biogas. It’s worth noting that figures for fuels will be included in scope 1.
