      Guide to ESG Baseline and Baseline Answer

      What is ESG Baseline, and what do I gain from completing it?

      This article explains how you can gain a better understanding of what sustainability is and what it means for your company by completing Valified's ESG Baseline. Once you've filled out an ESG Baseline, you will receive an auto-generated report that translates your ESG Baseline answers into a professional and user-friendly format.

      What is ESG Baseline?

      ESG Baseline provides a better understanding of what sustainability is and what it means for your company through a series of questions. The foundation for ESG Baseline is based on the UN Global Compact's 10 principles: (The Ten Principles | UN Global Compact). Valified has translated these 10 principles into concrete, everyday language questions that can be understood and applied by companies of all sizes. In addition to the UN Global Compact's 10 principles, some questions in the ESG Baseline are based on other recommendations and standards to cover relevant areas within a company:

      • Questions about responsible business management and climate are based on FSR's and Nasdaq's ESG key figures and customer feedback. Read more about FSR's and Nasdaq's ESG key figures here.
      • Step 5 in the ESG Baseline is based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). All countries around the world have adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals through the UN.       It's easy to get started with Valified's ESG Baseline. It only takes about 15 minutes to complete and provides an immediate better understanding of what sustainability is and what it means for your company.

      What is Baseline Answer?

      After you have completed an ESG Baseline, you will receive an auto-generated report that translates your ESG Baseline answers into a professional and user-friendly format. Baseline Answer is a visualization of your company's ESG efforts that were entered in the ESG Baseline. Baseline Answer makes the data easy to understand, forms the basis for a more conscious and targeted approach to sustainability in the company, and can be used for internal communication about your sustainability status.

      How do I do it?

      1. You can find your ESG Baseline questionnaire either through your invitation email or under Baselines on the overview page. If your company has been invited to an ESG Baseline that has not yet been completed, you can find it under "Request for Data."
      2. Click "Start" to begin. Start by selecting the fiscal year your answers will relate to. This is also the fiscal year for which you need to collect consumption data. Click "Continue" in the top right corner and start answering the questions in the Baseline. If you're unsure about a question, you can always click "Read More" to find articles. If you're still unsure, Valified's Support is ready to help you in the chat.
      3. Click through the steps in the Baseline. If there are questions you cannot answer or can only answer later, you can skip them or enter the answer at a later time. However, we always recommend including as much as possible in the Baseline.
      4. When you're done with the ESG Baseline, you have the option to add a management comment. Here, you can provide information about ongoing sustainability work in your company. It could also be areas you feel are not covered in your response.
      5. Click "Save" and then decide whether you want to share your responses. Your ESG Baseline is now saved, and a report that translates your ESG Baseline answers into a professional and user-friendly format has been auto-generated. You can find Baseline Answer in two places: either on your Overview or under ImpactReports.
      6. In Baseline Answer, you'll find all your answers from the completed ESG Baseline. You can edit it as you wish or leave it as it is.
