Læs om EUs forslag til klimaplan "FIT for 55"
In July 2021, the EU presented its proposal for the climate plan “Fit for 55.” The plan is historically ambitious in addressing climate change, with a particular focus on reducing greenhouse gases across all sectors of society.
The Fit for 55 package aims to:
- Reduce CO2 emissions by 55% by 2030 (In Denmark, this reduction target is already set at 70%)
- Ensure that 40% of energy consumption comes from renewable energy sources by 2030
- Expand the existing CO2 quota system to include shipping, transport, construction, and more
- Impose a CO2 tax on selected goods, making it more expensive to import from non-EU countries with lower emission reduction standards
- Increase prices for heating, electricity, and fuel
- Establish a social climate fund of DKK 540 billion to compensate citizens economically impacted by the new measures
- End the sale of gasoline and diesel cars by 2030
- Build more charging stations for electric and hydrogen vehicles
What Does This Mean for Your Business and What Can You Do About It?
Businesses need to prepare for significantly increased costs for activities and products that emit CO2. This could have substantial negative effects on a company’s bottom line and its ability to sell products if its business model depends on CO2 emissions.
At Valified, we can help you get an overview of your company’s CO2 consumption, allowing you to work proactively on targeted reductions well before new taxes and regulations come into effect.
